The long-awaited “Sentinels of Light” LoL event is right around the corner and, alongside it, a brand-new champion called Akshan! Now, this interesting mid lane marksman has been in the works for quite a while, but he was mostly veiled in secrecy; in other words, we didn’t have much to talk about other than that one relatively sketchy leak that popped up on Reddit a couple of weeks ago.

Well, turns out, the leak was correct: Akshan will be zipping to the mid lane in just a couple of weeks and will undoubtedly play a key role in the “Sentinels of Light” LoL event as well. We don’t know much other than the fact that he’s one of the good guys and will sport an ability kit that’ll allow him to roam as often as possible.

“To the Sentinels: In the event of my death, I appoint Akshan as my successor, to inherit my weapon and keep Shurima protected from the forces of undeath. May you one day find us.” — Shadya

There’s still so much that we don’t know and it’s better that way — no surprise has been spoiled! This one event has been in the works for years, and knowing just how capable and passionate the folks over at Riot are, it’s fair to expect an absolute spectacle. Perhaps the most important thing about it all is the fact that the story of League of Legends will change and advance for the first time in what feels like forever. We’ve been inhabiting the virtual world for years, and we want to see it evolve — in whichever direction Riot thinks is best.

The “Sentinels of Light” event is scheduled to begin on July 8 alongside patch 11.14, and you’ll be able to experience it across the entire Riot Games line-up including Legends of Runeterra, Teamfight Tactics, Wild Rift, and last but certainly not least, League of Legends. Heck, Ruination might even spill into Valorant as well! In any case, we’re bound to get a lot more information over the coming days so stay tuned!
