¡¡¡¡The coaching staff of the Colombia Men s Senior Team reports that the player James Rodr¨ªguez has been called off for the games against Peru and Argentina for the qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the CONMEBOL Copa Am¨¦rica 2021.

¡¡¡¡In recent days, the midfielder was subjected to medical examinations, which determined that he is not at the optimal level of competition, therefore, he will not be able to join the group called by Reinaldo Rueda for the aforementioned commitments and the South American championship.

¡¡¡¡The coach and his team of collaborators regret not being able to count on James Rodr¨ªguez this time and hope that soon the midfielder will be able to be part of a call, representing our country with the height and professionalism as he has always done.

¡¡¡¡Yes it s nearly June.

¡¡¡¡Yes, we re told the sun might even shine next week.

¡¡¡¡And yes, Everton HAVE played a league match on this date before.

¡¡¡¡It was a strangely low key finish to the greatest season it has ever been my good fortune to witness.

¡¡¡¡With England touring the USA in advance of the 1986 World Cup in Mexico, and Steven, Stevens, Reid and Barcewell all on international duty, champions Everton were allowed to play an under-strength side at Luton Town – having already played 48 hours earlier at Coventry, which came three days after a Merseyside derby, five days after the FA Cup final and eight days after a European Cup Winners Cup final!

¡¡¡¡The team which, predictably, went down 2-0, was: Southall, Darren Hughes, Alan Harper, Pat van den Hauwe, John Bailey, Johnny Morrissey (the younger, Howard s options weren t THAT limited), Kevin Richardson, Jason Danskin, Daren Walsh, Paul Wilkinson and Robbie Wakenshaw. Neill Rimmer came on for his only Everton appearance.

¡¡¡¡One from The Boot Room today

¡¡¡¡Reported Everton target Merih Demiral could be sold this summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

¡¡¡¡Carlo Ancelotti¡¯s Toffees have been linked with the Juventus centre-back for a number of weeks now, and his future in Turin remains uncertain.

¡¡¡¡Gazzetta dello Sport claimed in April that Everton were eyeing Demiral as part of a potential deal involving Moise Kean going the other way.

¡¡¡¡Key phrase here is, the centre-back. So, once again, we refer you to what Carlo Ancelotti said when Everton were repeatedly linked with another Serie A centre-back a couple of months ago ….

¡¡¡¡Honestly, I have a lot of good memories of Koulibaly. He was a good player, a good guy, a good friend.

¡¡¡¡But, if you see our squad there, we are really well covered because we have four centre-backs who are young, with a lot of talent and different characteristics between them.

¡¡¡¡And so, in that position, we are really covered for the future.

¡¡¡¡It s all here: Nothing to see then. Move on.

¡¡¡¡Top Blue historian Rob Sawyer posted this poser yesterday on Twitter.

¡¡¡¡Answers were varied. But it s NOT the British Championship trophy (Everton won that a few months later by beating Glasgow Rangers in November), or the Liverpool Senior Cup, which is huge and grand and ornate.

¡¡¡¡Best suggestions were ….

¡¡¡¡Sigh …. the days when Everton had so many trophies we couldn t name them all. One day …. one day ….

¡¡¡¡Right-back transfer rumours hoovered up by Toffeeweb here:

¡¡¡¡Everton are rumoured to be weighing up alternative targets to Max Aarons after talks to bring the highly-rated full-back to Goodison Park from Norwich ended without success.

¡¡¡¡According to Fabrizio Romano, football correspondent for The Guardian and Sky Sports Italia, there is no chance of the 21-year-old joining his former team-mate Ben Godfrey at Everton amid whispers the club balked at the ¡ê30m asking price.

¡¡¡¡In the meantime, there is renewed talk in interest from Marcel Brands in Lille right-back Zeki ?elik who has been linked with the Blues before.

¡¡¡¡Ridle Baku of Wolfsburg is another name that has been bandied about in connection with Everton but there is, as yet, no reliable speculation suggesting he is a solid target for the club.

¡¡¡¡We told you first, right here, that Everton have NEVER had any interest in Max Aarons. Any talk to that affect is agent-speak. The Norwich defender doesn t have the particular qualities Everton are pursuing.

¡¡¡¡Morning all.

¡¡¡¡Littler later than usual due to IT issues …. but you don t want to hear about that.

¡¡¡¡You DO want to read David Alexander-Hughes take on why Ademola Lookman would be absolutely perfect for Carlo Ancelotti s Everton!

¡¡¡¡They say never go back … Peter Beagrie, Tommy Gravesen, but sometimes, just sometimes, it works. Landon Donovan, or Big Dunc anyone?

¡¡¡¡Carlo said this last week:

¡¡¡¡The plan is clear and also the profile of player that we need is clear for everyone, so we have to work on it. The profile is a winger that is able to score goals, is able to defend, that is able to sacrifice, that is able to put crosses in.¡±

¡¡¡¡”This kind of player is not easy to find. But if you look at the market and the players around the world, there are really a lot of good players around the world

¡¡¡¡David has crunched the numbers and explained exactly why Lookman is THAT winger. Here s his article:
